Gino Ranalli

Braintree, Gino Ranalli, age 90, a longtime resident of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Milton, surrounded by his loving family.

Gino was born, raised, and educated in Anversa degli Abruzzi, Italy. He served in the Italian Air Force following World War II and immigrated to the United States in 1955, living in Quincy for twenty-one years before moving to Braintree in 1976. He also enjoyed his summer home in Falmouth for many years.

As a young man, he worked as a stitcher for the Stride Rite Shoe Company in Boston for fifteen years. He later became a hair stylist and was the well-known owner and operator of the former Gino’s Barber Shop in Wollaston for thirty years. He had been retired for twenty years.

Gino enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He loved the ocean, Old Silver Beach, and family gatherings at his summer home in Falmouth.

He was a longtime member of Saint John the Baptist Parish in Quincy and the Quincy Sons of Italy.

Most of all, Gino was dedicated to his family, especially to his wife, Maria, his children, and his two cherished grandsons, supporting all of their activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for sixty-three years of Maria (DiCroce) Ranalli.

Devoted father of Alfredo Ranalli of Boston, Carla Ranalli of Quincy, Gina Hines and her husband William of Weymouth, and William Ranalli of Braintree.

Loving Nonno of Kyle and Dylan Hines of Weymouth.

Brother of Concetto Ranalli and his wife Rosanna of Penne, Italy. Gino was predeceased by his brother Enrico, his sister Nicolina and her husband Attilio Ciambi.

Son of the late Alfredo and Concetta (Ricci) Ranalli, and Maria (Nonni) Ranalli.

Gino is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Wednesday, December 27th at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home Tuesday 4 – 8 p.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

So sorry to hear the news of your dad's passing. He was one of the nicest men and a real tribute to the community.
