Ronald A. Glennon

Quincy, Ronald A. Glennon, age 87, of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the South Shore Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born in Boston to the late Franklin and Johannah (Daly) Glennon. He was raised in West Roxbury and was a graduate of the former Brandeis Technical High School in Boston, Class of 1948. He had lived in Quincy for over fifty years and previously in South Boston for twenty years.

He was employed as a laborer in the construction industry for forty years. He was a proud member of Local 223 and served as union president for many years.

Ron was a truly a “man for others”, both as a mentor and friend for those in need for fifty-eight years.

He was also dedicated to his family and especially to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, supporting all their activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for sixty-six years of Joan M. (Wyse) Glennon.

Devoted father of Kathleen Picardi and her husband Albert of Scituate, Ronald Glennon, Joanne McGee and her husband John, Sheila Donovan and her husband Francis all of Quincy, Elaine Foley and her husband Thomas of Weymouth, Sean Glennon, Detective, Quincy Police Department and his wife Jo-Anne of Quincy.

Loving grandfather of eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

One of four siblings, Ron was pre-deceased by Franklin Glennon, Elizabeth Guiod and David Glennon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Tuesday, July 25th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Monday 4 – 8 p.m. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Gavin Foundation, 675 E 4th Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
