Eleanor T. (Lane) Burrell

Quincy, Eleanor T. (Lane) Burrell, age 97, a lifelong Quincy resident, died peacefully, Friday, November 17, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Eleanor was born in Quincy to the late John and Ellen (Delahunty) Lane. She was a graduate of the Woodward School for Girls, Class of 1938.

As a homemaker, Eleanor was devoted to her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife of the late Warren J. Burrell, Quincy Fire Department, Retired.

Devoted mother of Richard W. Burrell and his wife Penny of Topsail Beach, NC, Eleanor M. Bryant and her husband John of Hingham, Anne Marie Lester and her husband Timothy of Westport, CT, and the late Barbara E. Mellen.

Cherished grandmother of ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Eleanor was the last of four siblings.

Visitation at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Tuesday, November 21st from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Mass in Saint Joseph’s Church, 550 Washington Street, Quincy at 12 p.m.  Interment Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Perkins Library, Attn: Kim Charlson, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472-2790 or by visiting www.perkins.org.

Dear Dick, Eleanor and Anne, weíre sorry for your loss. Iím so glad I got to see her recently. She was an amazing woman and is responsible for adding so many caring and loving familiy members to this world. She passed in her own home surrounded by her loving children.
