Michael J. Saville

Quincy, Michael J. Saville, age 68, a lifelong Quincy resident, died unexpectedly, Monday, June 19, 2017 at home.

Michael was born in Quincy to the late John Roger and Hazel (McDonald) Saville.  He was raised in Quincy and was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School, Class of 1967 and attended Quincy Junior College.

He was employed as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for over thirty years.

Michael was a Vietnam Era veteran having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the minesweeper, U.S.S. Detector MSO 429.  He was a member of the McKeon Post AmVets #146 in Dorchester.

He was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed baseball, serving as President of the Quincy Babe Ruth National League for many years.

Michael was dedicated to his family and friends.

Beloved husband for thirty-six years of Kathleen J. (Kelley) Saville.

Devoted father of Michael J. Saville and his companion Hadley Garnett of New York City, New York.

Dear brother of Phyllis Irwin and her husband David of Hull, Rogene Chase and her husband Charles of Stuart, Florida, Roberta Kydd and her husband Edward of Nashua, New Hampshire, John R. Saville, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Brockton.  Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Friday, June 23rd at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Thursday 4 – 8 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Mount Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy.
