Richard M. Taverna

Kingston, Richard M. Taverna, age 66, of  Kingston, formerly of Hanson, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Wingate at Silver Lake, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born in Boston to the late Domenic P. and Irene I. (Harris) Taverna. He was raised and educated in Watertown and had lived in Kingston for eight years and previously in Hanson for ten years.

He had been employed as the office manager for his family’s business, the Watertown Engineering Corporation of Whitman.

Richard was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox.

He loved his family and was the devoted brother of Lorraine G. Donovan and her husband Mark of Hanson, his twin brother Robert J. Taverna and his wife Sally of  Barnstable.

Richard is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Monday, November 6th at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 – 5 p.m. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

For those who wish, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy of Metro Boston, 71 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02471.

Richard’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the caring staff at Wingate at Silver Lake for the wonderful loving care and compassion they provided Richard these past eight years.

Richard was my friend for many years, He was the smartest man i have ever known.He cherished his time with his sister Lorraine. He never had a harsh word for anyone. He will be forever missed by me and everyone who knew him. Richey is now back withe his loving parents. We will see you again Richey, but for new we will miss you and your smiling way.

Richard's strength and courage should be an example for all of us. We enjoyed his quick wit and were amazed at his wealth of knowledge . Anyone who was fortunate enough to have Richard in their life could not help but love and admire him.We will always be grateful to have known him. Go Red Sox.
