Quincy, Bertha E. “Betty” (Titus) Steele, age 85, of Quincy, formerly of Randolph, died peacefully, Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at South Shore Hospital, surrounded by her loving family
Betty was born in Quincy to the late Elvi M. (Siitonen) and LeRoi Cook Titus. She was a graduate of Quincy High School and had lived in Quincy for most of her life.
She was a homemaker but had worked driving special needs children to school and appointments. She loved driving and was always available to help family and friends.
Betty was active for many years breeding Persian cats. She also enjoyed bingo and trips to the casino.
Most of all, Betty was dedicated to her family, especially to her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, actively supporting all their activities and accomplishments.
Beloved wife for fifty-nine years of the late Russell J. Steele, Sr. who passed on June 9, 2017.
Devoted mother of Theodore L. Steele and his wife Lisa of Braintree, Lauren E. Coggeshall of Randolph, Timothy A. Steele and his wife Mary Jo of Weymouth, Judi L. Flaherty of Norton, Victoria L. Petersen of Quincy, and the late Russell J. “Johnny” Steele, Jr.
Loving grandmother of fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was also the great grandmother of the late Jacob Russell Steele.
Dear sister of Barbara Thompson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the late George Titus. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins; her loving sister-in-law Madeline McCarthy of Quincy, and her lifelong friend, Jean Hall both of Quincy.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Wednesday, January 3rd at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Tuesday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
