Ralph Parker Christie
Quincy, Ralph Parker Christie, age 90, a longtime Quincy resident, died peacefully, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at home in the comfort and care of friends.
Ralph was born in Somerville to the late Parker and Mabel (Howland) Christie. His mother was a descendant of John Tilley Howland, one of the Mayflower Pilgrims. He was raised in Quincy, was a graduate of North Quincy High School, and had lived in Quincy for most of his life.
He had been employed as a product tester for over thirty years at the Instron Corporation in Canton.
Ralph was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy in the late 1940s and later as an Airman 1/c in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was an automobile enthusiast, enjoyed working on cars, and was hands-on with household projects.
The passion in Ralph’s life was his service as a Freemason and member of the Delta Lodge. He was also a Shriner and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was proud to have received the Fifty Year Freemason Medal for his dedicated commitment to helping others.
Ralph was the brother of the late Donald Howland Christie and the dear uncle of Donna Maddore and her husband David, David Christie and his wife Joni, Michael Christie, and Kelly Christie all of Washington State. He has six great nieces and nephews and ten great great nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his very good friend and fellow Mason, Christopher J. Chetwynd of Quincy.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Friday, December 8th at 10 o’clock. Reverend Rebecca E. Baumann, Pastor of the Quincy Community United Methodist Church will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Thursday 5 – 7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
