Daniel J. Brown

Weymouth, Daniel J. Brown, age 62, a lifelong resident of Weymouth, died suddenly, Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Daniel was born in Weymouth to the late Irving S. and Eleanor M. (McNeil) Brown. He was raised and educated in Weymouth and attended Weymouth High School.

Dan worked in mechanical engineering inspection for Department of Defense manufacturing companies for over forty years. Most recently, he was employed at a laboratory at M.I.T.

Dan was active in the Massachusetts Democratic Party. He also enjoyed participating in many political campaigns on behalf of former Mayor of Weymouth, Sue Kay.

He loved to travel, play cards, and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed carpentry. He was a loyal fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots.

Dan was a man of great character. His charm and outgoing personality will be greatly missed.

Beloved husband for twenty-seven years of Lucinda “Cindie” Morrill Brown.

Devoted brother of Marianne Crooks and her husband William of Weymouth, Timothy P. Brown and his wife Kate of Kingston, and the late Steven I. Brown.

Dear brother-in-law of Maureen A. Wilkinson and her companion Tapper of Weymouth, David J. Connolly and his wife Joanna of Braintree.

Dan is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, and his beloved cats, Lucy and Charlie Brown and the late Whitey Brown.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Saturday, December 9 at 11 a.m. Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, 720 Broad Street, Weymouth at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to the Quincy Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 690088, Quincy, MA 02269-0088 or the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-8750.
