E. Marie (Horblit) O`Meara
Quincy, E. Marie (Horblit) O’Meara, age 97, a longtime Quincy resident, died peacefully, Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born in Dorchester to the late Marcus Mendal and Emma (Anderson) Horblit. She was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and Boston Teacher’s College. She also attended the Conservatory of Music in Boston.
She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Boston. Marie was then employed in the accounting industry, working for Rittenhouse and Company. She then worked for Quincy Typesetting which led to her employment with Bay State Reprographics in Quincy until she retired in 2010.
Marie was an excellent pianist and singer, a self-taught artist, an avid reader and wonderful cook. She loved animals and had a special affection for birds and enjoyed feeding them.
Her main passion was her family. Marie was dedicated to her late husband, her children, and especially to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, actively supporting all their activities and many accomplishments.
Beloved wife for forty-eight years of the late Henry F. T. O’Meara.
Devoted mother of Patricia C. O’Meara and her husband Rafael Santamaria Cortes of Florida, Gail M. O’Meara and her husband Ernest J. Lorandeau, Jr. of Plymouth, Timothy F. O’Meara and his wife Elaine of Maynard.
Loving grandmother of Gail-Marie O. Spring and her husband Gary of North Carolina, Sean F. O’Meara and his wife Melissa of Billerica, Catherine M. Johann and her husband Matthew of Maynard.
Cherished great grandmother of David C. Corley, Jr., Chloe M. Corley, Rebekah A. Spring, Henry J. O’Meara, Sarah I. O’Meara, Andrew, Daniel and Nicholas Johann.
Dear sister of the late Marcus M. Horblit.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Wednesday, October 18th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
