Elizabeth A. `Betty` (Harding) Alvarado

Quincy, Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Harding) Alvarado, age 79, a lifelong Quincy resident, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at home.

Betty was born in Quincy to the late Stanley L. and Gertrude C. (Rhenbeck) Harding, Sr. She was raised in Brewer’s Corner and was a graduate of Quincy High School and later earned an associate degree from Quincy College.

She was employed as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Quincy Department of Transitional Assistance for twenty-six years and served as union steward.

Betty was a caring person, she volunteered as a foster mother for several years and was well known for helping others. Betty was talented in crocheting and truly loved making blankets for family and friends. She was a longtime member and past president of the Quincy Emblem Club.

She was an avid dart player and belonged to many local dart teams. She enjoyed taking trips to various casinos.

Most of all, she was dedicated to her family and especially to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, actively supporting all their activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife for thirty-four years of the late Jose Antonio “Toni” Alvarado.

Devoted mother of Mark T. Eisenhauer of Deming, NM, Milton James Eisenhauer, Jr. of Cocoa Beach, FL, David B. and Robert B. Eisenhauer, both of Quincy, Bettyanne M. Sylvia and her husband Charles of Port Orange, FL, Phillip F. Fisher, Jr. and his husband Jerry of El Paso, TX, Virginia A. “Ginny” Gilmartin and her husband Sean of Hanover, Juanita A. Alvarado and her husband Jonathan F. Ford of Manchester, NH.

Loving grandmother of Katie, Diane, Melissa, Ryan, Richie, Sean, Mary, and Jonathan. Cherished great grandmother of Davey, Xavier, Kareem, and Elanya.

Betty was the last of nine siblings and was special aunt of Barbara, Joanne, Stanley, and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Thursday, October 12th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
