Carl D. Yngve, age 86

Carl D. Yngve, age 86, a longtime resident of Braintree, died peacefully, Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home, in the comfort of his loving family.

Carl was born in Boston, to the late Henry G. and Constance N. (Watson) Yngve. Raised and educated in Quincy and Dedham, he was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1953. He lived in Braintree for fifty years.

Carl was proud to have served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during the Korean era.

Carl was employed as a senior manufacturing specialist for the Gillette Company, primarily at the Andover plant, for forty-six years.

He had a passion for scuba diving and was a longtime active member of the South Shore Neptunes. He also served on the Quincy Civil Defense Underwater Recovery Team.

Carl loved nature, birds, gardening, and fishing. He also enjoyed a good meal. He loved to travel, and his dear friends in Canada, Morocco, Ireland, and France will miss him very much. Carl was an avid reader. Most of all, he was devoted to his family, and especially enjoyed supporting the many activities and accomplishments of his grandchildren.

Devoted father of Kristan E. MacPherson of Hingham, Lauren Yngve Crook and her husband Robert of Braintree.

Loving grandfather of April C. Phillips and her husband Richard “Rick”, Kyle B. Yngve, Caroline J. Crook, Cameron D. Crook, and the late Holly E. MacPherson.

Cherished great-grandfather of Wyatt S. MacPherson and Addison C. “Addy” Phillips.

Dear brother of Peter Yngve and his wife Ingrid of Weymouth.

Former husband of the late Anne M. (Blake) Yngve, and Cindy (Hunter) Yngve of Easton.

Beloved step-father of Ruth Tanguay, Julie Persutti, and Alexis Moore.

Memorial Visitation will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Wednesday, December 29, from 4 – 6 p.m. A Prayer Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The family requests that those attending wear a mask or face covering. At the request of Carl, a celebration of his life will take place over the summer at the home of Lauren and Bob.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s memory may be made to Marisa’s Mission, P.O. Box 850061, Braintree, MA 02185, or https://marisas-mission.org/donate/, supporting patients and families affected by cancer. Carl’s granddaughter, Holly, passed away, October 11, 2021, from cancer.

The Yngve family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care provided to Carl by his many devoted caretakers over the years.

  • Carl was a kind gentlemen who had a love for life that never cease to amaze me. When we first met him it was in 1982 mike helped him bring his dive gear up to his apartment. A friendship we will always cherish. He introduced us to the Neptune family which has been a wonderful experience for all these years. God bless his beautiful family he will always be in our heart’s.
