Carole A. (Cloudman) Dever, age 86, a longtime resident of Braintree, formerly of Medford, died peacefully, Monday, December 2, 2024, at Hancock Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Quincy.
Carole was born in Boston on April 1, 1938, the only child of the late William L. and Margaret B. (Doherty) Cloudman. She was a graduate of Medford High School with the Class of 1957. She enjoyed her time spent at Brightview Assisted Living in Canton for the past year and a half. Prior to that, she lived in Braintree for over sixty years with her late husband Paul M. Dever who died in 2022. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary shortly before he passed.
Carole was employed as a sales representative at Sears, Roebuck & Company for sixteen years. She began her career at the former Quincy location and then worked at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree. She later founded her own home cleaning company which she operated for ten years.
She enjoyed reading and loved to travel with her late husband, Paul, having taken trips to China, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
Carole was an active member of the former Saint Thomas More Church in Braintree and had served as a religious education teacher. She was also a volunteer at the Nazareth House in Jamaica Plain for many years where she enjoyed helping children.
Devoted mother of Paul R. Dever and his wife Julie (O’Malley) Dever of Carver and the late Laura A. Dever.
Carole is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret June Norton of Braintree, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Friday, December 6, from 8:45-9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Immediately following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
