  • Dr. Shakr is the reason my triplets girls (now 16) are all healthy. I could not have asked for a better Dr. He was kind, caring and very diligent in the care of myself and my girls. He will be greatly missed.

  • Words cannot describe a doctor like Dr Shakr. Kind, compassionate, caring, and sincere are but a few words that come to mind. I’ll never forget the personal calls before and after surgery, to assure I was ok, or his personal follow up with my own cancer battle while never sharing his. He was a great man, “one of a kind” doctor, and my heart goes out to his wife, family, staff and colleagues. Praying for comfort, he will be missed by SO many.😢🙏

  • One of the nicest men and physicians I have ever met. Very caring, gentle sole who was quite genuine with everybody he met. His spirit, energy, enthusiasm will be missed. South Shore Health system has lost an integral member. Our deepest sympathies to the family Christo Shakr.

  • A dear and beloved colleague who was a role model in compassion and love. May you rest in peace.

  • Just heard the sad news today. I’m so sorry
Janis and family. There is nothing I can say. I’m in disbelief
Christo was a wonderful doctor and a humble gentleman. I remember most when he delivered my daughter in 1987 at St. Margaret’s hospital. At that time, she was the biggest baby he ever delivered, 13.2lbs.
Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I’m so sorry.
He will be missed. Doctors like him were few and far between. RIP Christo Shakr
    God bless. 🙏😪💙

  • The world has lost one of its finest. He was one of most caring and compassionate men I have ever known. I worked with him and I also chose him to be my doctor. If there is one thing I know about him I know that he loved his family dearly. I last saw him in April and never in 25 years did he ever not ask about my family, how my children were doing and where they were now. He, in turn, would tell me about Janis, their children and grandchildren. Oh how he beamed with pride. Chris gave so much of himself to all of us and we are truly grateful for having such a man and doctor grace our lives. There is a very special place for people like him.

  • There are no words to describe the heartache felt by his loss. Dr. Shakr was the most caring, kind, and gentle soul.. He was the most compassionate physician with the best bedside manner and an all around gentleman. There will never be another doctor quite like him. My heart goes out to his family, colleagues, and anyone else who was lucky to have him in their lives. He will be so greatly missed❤️

  • Chris was not only a wonderful physician but the most caring health care provider that I had the honor of working with at St. Margaret’s Hospital and when I taught birth classes for Crown Ob/Gyn. You will be greatly missed by both clinicians and patients. I know you are with the angels and watching over your family and friends. God Bless you always.

  • I loved working with Chris for many years in the Birthing Unit at SSH. He was kind and compassionate and never raised his voice. He was funny and would often tell us it was his birthday when it wasn’t. He cared about his patients and always thanked us nurses. We would joke about how we would check to see if the patient had clear urine and we would say it was “Christo clear”. He will be missed but remembered every time we check the patient’s urine.

  • Janis and family , dr Shakr was a great dr. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  • The world needs more people like Dr. Shakr. He truly defines what it means to be a gentleman. ALWAYS kind, thoughtful, sincere and above all just truly genuine, his patients and all of us that worked with him were truly blessed to have known him.

  • To the Shakr family, Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. For over twenty years, Dr. Christo Shakr has been my medical rock, and the foundation of my medical care. Others doctors have come and gone over the years, but he was always there with his calm, kind, caring manner doing his best to make sure that I was always comfortable. He went over and above to contact my primary care doctor, call personally with test results and investigate ways to make procedures more comfortable. Most of all he always took the time to talk about his family expressing his love for you all, and asking about mine. He was always checking on how my granddaughters were doing as our family grew–asking for pictures and wanting to know the latest news for each of them. Christo Shakr, you are a hard man to follow, and I know that I will never be able to replace you. Rest in peace my friend, you will be forever in my heart and prayers. Memories of better times will help those who love you cope with your loss. Love from the Baker Family.

You helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life but thanks to you I was able to get though and then deliver two health births. You’ll be greatly missed. May you rest in peace. ❤️

  • I worked many Thursday nights over the years in the BU with Dr. Shakr. I must say he was the classiest physician who would always be laughing and joking and always so appreciative of the hard work we tried to provide. He took care of his patients with a kindness and caring and expert skill that did not go unnoticed. I will miss seeing and working with him very much! My heart felt sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. Sincerely, Eric Hamel CRNA

  • I have been a patient of Dr. Shakr’s for many years. He helped me through some serious health issues during this time. I was fortunate to have such a caring, knowledgeable and compassionate physician who always gave me the time I needed, whether during an office visit or in the evening with a phone call. I never felt rushed and knew I had his undivided attention at all times. He listened to me and took good care of me. Thank you, Dr. Shakr- a true gentleman and gifted physician. . My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

  • My condolences to Dr. Shakr’s family and friends. He was my doctor for 25 years. He was so kind and compassionate. I will truly miss him and I am so sad to hear of his passing.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Shakr was one of a kind. He was so caring and always took the time to ask about my children and wanted to see photos of the kids. When I asked how his family was his smile got even bigger, he loved you so much. Last time I was in the office, the topic of retirement came up and I asked him if he was considering retirement and he said no because he would drive his wife crazy being home all the time. Dr. Shakr was an amazing doctor and he will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time.

  • Many years ago, a young man left Lebanon and came to a small hospital in Dorchester. There he touched the hearts of all who knew him, and met the love of his life, Janis. Those hearts are somewhat broken now- but that is Chris’ reminder there is more space to let others in.
This was his legacy. No one could ever tell a former Saint a Margaret’s nurse her standards were too high- not when we were colleagues of Chris Shakr. (And Dr Cotter who preceded him). He exceeded every expectation, and his brilliance was matched only by his humility. Rest In Peace, Chris, job well done
