Francis P. Broll, age 87, of Marlborough, a former longtime resident of Needham, died peacefully, Friday, April 4, 2025 at The Branches of Marlboro.
Francis was born in Quincy, to the late Frank P. and Anna V. (Kelly) Broll. Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1956. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
Fran lived in Marlborough for the past five years, previously in Needham for over fifty years.
Fran was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, having attained the rank of First Lieutenant. He was a basic signal officer with the 226th Signal Company.
Fran enjoyed a long, rewarding career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and had been retired for many years.
Fran gave generously to many charities, including Catholic charities. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and reading.
Beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Boyd) Broll.
Dear brother of Margaret A. “Peggy” MacDonald of Hudson and her late husband Jack, and the late William A. Broll.
Loving uncle of John MacDonald, the late Linda MacDonald-Tuper, Sarah Karish Marshall and her husband John, Ed Karish and his wife Antonette, and Elise Karish and her fiancé Bruce Greig.
Loving great uncle of Jack MacDonald, Jessica MacDonald, Samantha Marshall, Theresa Marshall, Ethan Marshall, Ashley Karish, and Eddie Karish.
Memorial Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Saturday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial Visitation prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Inurnment, with military honors, at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
