George W. Whalen, Jr., age 64

Manchester, NH, George W. Whalen, Jr., age 64, formerly of Braintree, died peacefully, Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Massachusetts General Hospital, in the comfort of his loving family.

George was born in Boston to the late George W. and Frances V. (Murphy) Whalen. He was raised in Braintree and was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1971, and had lived in Manchester for the past three years.

He was employed as a metal fabricator for many years.

Step-father of Harmony Jusseaume of Westport and Troy Bortmess of Dartmouth and he is survived by four step-grandchildren.

Dear brother of Maureen A. Whalen Paddock of Marstons Mills, Kathleen Whalen-Giannandrea of Braintree, Robert G. Whalen of Barre City, Vermont, Eileen M. Whalen Moore of Braintree, Doreen T. Whalen-O’Shea of Sagamore, Patrick M. Whalen of East Haddam, Connecticut, the late James J. Whalen and the late Colleen Whalen Berman.

George is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Joseph’s Church, 550 Washington Street, Quincy on Friday, March 8th at 9 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

At the request of the family, visiting hours have been omitted.
