Giuseppe “Joe” Avitabile, age 86, of Hanover, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born in Agerola, Italy, to the late Domenico G. and Teresa (Avitabile) Avitabile. Raised and educated there, he immigrated to the United States in 1959, arriving in Quincy. He lived in Hanover for forty-seven years.
Joe was the well-known hair stylist and co-owner of Men’s Hi-Style Salon in Quincy for over forty years. He was a talented hair stylist and made many friendships with his clients.
Joe was a longtime member of the Quincy Sons of Italy. He enjoyed tending to his garden as well as playing cards.
Most of all, Joe was devoted to his family, especially his son and grandchildren, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.
Beloved husband for fifty-six years of Winnie T. (Delaney) Avitabile.
Devoted father of Joseph W. Avitabile and his wife Regina of Mansfield.
Proud Nonno of Joseph and Rebecca.
Dear uncle of Marie Cuomo and her son Collin Palmer, both of Weymouth.
The last of three siblings, Joe was predeceased by his dear brother, Luigi P. Avitabile, and sister, Rose Cuomo. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Friday, May 2, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
