John P. “Jack” Flannery, age 70

John P. “Jack” Flannery, age 70, a longtime resident of Quincy, died suddenly, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Milton, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Boston, to the late John and Sheila (O’Sullivan) Flannery. Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a graduate of Quincy Vocational Technical School, Class of 1974.

Jack was employed as an inspector in the utility industry, working for the Boston Gas Company, later KeySpan and National Grid. He had been retired for several years.

Beloved husband for eighteen years of Barbara (Flynn) Flannery.

Devoted father of Nicholas J. Flannery and his wife Sondra, Kelley A. Rousayne and her husband David, and Sean P. Flannery.

Stepfather of Christopher M. McSweeney and his wife Catherine Albiani McSweeney, Kaitlyn J. McSweeney, and Sean J. McSweeney and his wife Danielle Bergeron.

Loving grandfather of Bella, Olivia, Julia, and Gemma Flannery; Reagan and Katelyn Rousayne; Lillian and Roxanne McSweeney; Flynn and Virginia McSweeney; Theo and Bodhi McSweeney.

Dear brother of Michael Flannery and his wife Barbara, Daniel Flannery and his wife Peggy.

Jack is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, both here in the United States and in Ireland.

Memorial Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, July 7, from 3 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
