Josephine A. (Shepard) Shamey, age 61

Josephine A. (Shepard) Shamey, age 61, a lifelong Weymouth resident, died suddenly, Monday, February 8, 2021, at home.

Josephine was born in Weymouth, to the late Joseph and Mary (York) Shepard. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1977.

Josephine was primarily a homemaker but had also worked as a clerk for Boston Financial Services for many years.

She enjoyed playing pool at Pete’s Bar and Grille in Quincy. Josephine loved music, especially bluegrass. She was also a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding. She had a special affinity for frogs. Most of all, she was devoted to her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

Devoted mother of Michael P. Shepard of Hull, Scarlett L. Shamey of Weymouth, Courtney Schneider of Boston, and Kayla E. Merchant of Braintree.

Loving grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of one.

Dear sister of John Shepard of Weymouth and predeceased by Joseph Shepard and Gladys Riely.

Josephine is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her cousin, Julie Webb.

At the request of the family, memorial services will take place at a later date.

    I will always have the best memories of Joanne from our childhood. It was only not long ago I had the change to reconnect after many years of losing track of her. I was glad to have a chance to get together with her and have a couple of memories! Joanne was a thoughtful and caring soul who loved her family to the fullest! Always doing whatever she could for them. I know her children and grand children will miss her greatly! Joanne was the glue that held them all together…she will be deeply missed by many.
