Kathleen F. “Kathy” (McGuff) Kenney, age 80

Quincy, Kathleen F. “Kathy” (McGuff) Kenney, age 80, of Quincy, formerly of Norwood, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center in Milton, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born in Norwood to the late Thomas and Lydia (Manley) McGuff. She was a graduate of Norwood High School and had lived in Quincy for thirty-two years.

She was employed as a film assembler for the Rust Craft Greeting Card Company in Dedham for thirty years. She later worked eight years as a sales representative for the Chart Kit Company of Norwell.

Kathy was an avid Boston sports fan who enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. She was also a longtime Boston College and Notre Dame football fan.

Most of all, Kathy was dedicated to her family and friends.

Beloved wife for thirty-two years of Thomas J. Kenney.

One of seven siblings, she was the devoted sister of Elizabeth Ann Curran and her late husband Joseph of Norwood, Patricia Hall and her late husband Raymond of Harwich, Sheila Barnett and her late husband Jack of Attleboro, Marcia Jenkins and her late husband Robert of California, and pre-deceased by Thomas J. McGuff, Mary Lou Foley and her husband James.

Dear sister-in-law of Irma McGuff of Somers, CT, Sister Mary Jane Kenny, Marist Missionary Sisters of Framingham, Bonnie Kenney of Braintree, Claudia Shutter and her husband Gary of Weymouth. Kathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Wednesday, January 16th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Tuesday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment Private.

  • Kathy – I wish I had known you better personally, but I treasure the fact I did know you through casual meetings over the years, at my brother Bob’s funeral — (you and “T” were so comforting to Marcia and the family and to all of us in our loss), and through Marcia’s updates about how you and “T” and and other members of the family were whenever we chatted on the phone.

    You lived a richly rewarding life, giving love to all around you. Now you have your own personal reward from the God of heaven. Enjoy your time in His presence and greet us when it is our time to join you..
