Kevin J. Curtis, age 70

Kevin J. Curtis, age 70, of Braintree, died, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Kevin was born in Wellesley, to the late David J. and Margaret M. (Reinhalter) Curtis. Raised and educated in Weymouth and Scituate, he was a graduate of Scituate High School, Class of 1968, where he was a state champion in wrestling in 1967-1968. Kevin was honored in 2017 when Scituate High School named their invitational tournament in his honor. He was a graduate of Hillsdale College in Michigan.

Kevin had lived in Braintree for thirty-seven years, previously in Scituate.

He was employed as a manager for Angelo’s Supermarkets and later, as a district manager for Sage’s Gourmet Foods in Boston. Kevin opened and operated his own store, Food Source, on Massachusetts Avenue in Boston for many years. He also owned a Tedeschi’s Food Store franchise in Dorchester.

Following his retirement, he worked as a driver for J.B. Livery in Weymouth for several years.

He enjoyed golfing and trips to casinos. Most of all, he was a hard-working man who was devoted to his family.

Beloved husband for thirty-seven years of Jym-Ann F. Curtis.

Devoted father of Kevin Alexander Curtis and his girlfriend Julia Beglane of Braintree, Samantha L. Tansey and her husband Michael of Plymouth.

One of nine siblings, he was the dear brother of Stephen Curtis and his wife Trish of Florida, Karen Hartigan and her husband Gerard of Hudson, Susan Gile and her husband John of Colorado, Lauren McCarthy and her husband Peter of Scituate, Robin Christensen and David Vest of Georgia, Glenn and his wife Betty of New York, Marilyn Giordian and her husband Michael of North Carolina, and the late Shawn Curtis.

Kevin is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside Services will be conducted at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy on Monday, August 10, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Those attending should gather at the Greenleaf Street gate. In light of current events, a celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at a later date when friends and family can gather safely.

    My heart breaks for you and your family. Kevin certainly fought the good fight for a very long time. How much he loved you was evident at Lauren’s wedding last year. It’s hard to believe that just a year ago he looked wonderful and had such a good time.
