Linda G. Sickler, age 69

Linda G. Sickler, age 69, of Hull, formerly of Belchertown, died suddenly, Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Linda was born in Springfield, on December 25, 1952. Raised and educated in West Springfield, she was a graduate of West Springfield High School, Class of 1970. She went on to graduate from Connecticut Culinary school and was a Level Three, Advanced Sommelier. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Everyone would agree that Linda was the hardest worker they knew and that she was always there to help her friends. There was never a task she would not meet head on with an attitude of determination. Her entrepreneurial spirit and appetite for knowledge led her to pursue many professions. Linda owned and operated Panache Restaurant in Hartford, Conn. for many years. Later, she owned and operated Superior Floor Covering in Belchertown. After earning her degree in Nutrition and Early Education later in life, she devoted her time and energy to healthy eating and nutritional habits for herself, her family and her students.

Linda was a talented chef, avid traveler, and enjoyed skiing and gardening. She also had a passion for horses that she passed on to her daughter and grandchildren. Most of all, Linda enjoyed spending time with her three granddaughters, especially at the beach, and supporting their many activities and accomplishments. She was kind and patient while always encouraging them to try new things. She taught them by example and if they were going to start a task, they would complete it correctly the first time.

Devoted mother of Martha T. Mathews and her husband Alex J. Mathews of Hingham.

Loving grandmother of Grace V. Mathews, Madison R. Mathews, and Lila M. Mathews.

Dear sister of Sarah Beaudoin of Daytona Beach, Fla.

Preceded in death by her father, William E. Sickler, and mother, Grace W. (Brigham) Sickler.

At the request of the family, memorial services will be celebrated at a later date.

In place of flowers or gifts, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, Second Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540 or www.autismspeaks.org.

  • I met Linda at MacDuffie’s in ninth grade. We became fast friends. I remember her love for skiing and we spent many hours at Mt Tom. I helped her clean out her beloved horse stall many time and enjoyed every minute. Over the years I tried to reach out to her through Facebook etc, with no success. I am not surprise she was in the restaurant business as I remember the restaurant that was with the motel. Sarah , my condolences to you and Linda’s family. A wonderful friend in my early life and I am so glad she was loved with
