Marie T. (Gravina) Lomasney, age 89

Marie T. (Gravina) Lomasney, age 89, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, died peacefully, Thursday, September 8, 2022, at South Shore Hospital, in the comfort of her loving family.

Marie was born in Roxbury to the late James and Louise (Trifero) Gravina. Raised and educated in Roxbury, she was a graduate of the former Saint Patrick’s High School. She has lived in Braintree for twenty-two years, and previously in Quincy and Dorchester.

She was employed with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a secretary in the Parole Department for twenty-eight years. Most of her career was at the Boston office but she had also worked in Dorchester and Quincy.

Marie was devoted to her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved longtime companion of the late Edward M. Fitzmaurice.

Devoted mother of Edward J. Lomasney and his wife Doreen of Whitman and Mary T. Lomasney of Braintree.

Loving grandmother of Anthony J. Lomasney and Ashley M. Lomasney both of Braintree, Rachel L. Lomasney and Brianna M. Lomasney both of Whitman.

Marie was pre-deceased by her sister, Lillian Sommerville and her brother, James Gravina.

Marie is survived by several nieces, nephews and their families.

Visiting hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Sunday, September 11, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree, on Monday, September 12, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
