Richard J. Babineau, Sr., age 76

Quincy, Richard J. Babineau, Sr., age 76, of Quincy, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born in Boston to the late Alyre and Mildred (Turner) Babineau. He was raised in Boston’s South End and was a graduate of Boston Latin High School.  He had lived in Quincy for fifty-four years.

He was employed as Project Manager of Special Services for ABM Industries, a maintenance service company in Somerville with which he had a combined twenty-nine years of service.

Previously, Richard had been in the food service industry as the owner and operator of several local pizzerias, including the former Richard’s Deli in Quincy.

He enjoyed music and dancing, particularly the jitterbug.

Most of all, he was dedicated to his family, especially to his late wife Diane and their children.

Beloved and caring husband of the late Diane M. (Salaris) Babineau.

Devoted father of Michele M. Driscoll and her husband John of Quincy, Richard J. Babineau, Jr. and his husband Cole Yodogawa of New York City, New York.

Richard was the last of six siblings and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Loving brother-in-law of Patricia Salaris of Colchester, CT, Denise Smith of Godfrey, IL, Frank Salaris and his wife Emma Horn of Singer Island, FL, Steven Salaris of Holbrook, Andrea Kenney and her husband Michael of Merrimack and Michael Salaris of Brockton.

Godfather of Kayla Hamilton of Quincy.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Tuesday, January 8th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1015 Sea Street, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Monday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.

  • To My Loving Family, My heart aches for each of you with Richie’s passing. Everyone loved Richie for his caring attitude toward each one of us.
