Richard J. “Dick” Corbin, age 88

Richard J. “Dick” Corbin, age 88, of Quincy and Dennis, died peacefully, Sunday, July 21, 2019 in the comfort of his loving family.

Richard was born in Quincy to the late Anthony F. and Ellen Agnes (Desmond) Corbin. Raised in Quincy, he was a graduate of Boston College High School and had lived in Quincy all his life before retiring to Dennis over twenty years ago.

Dick had been employed as a stock broker, salesman and owner of Corbin’s Fashions, where he and his late wife Carmela operated a ladies dress shop for many years in North Quincy.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a Storekeeper 2/c for eight years in the 1950’s.

Richard was a longtime, active member of Saint Mary’s Parish in West Quincy.

Richard was an avid golfer and had been a member for over thirty years at the Furnace Brook Golf Club in Quincy and for over twenty-five years at the Dennis Pines and Dennis Highlands Golf Clubs on the Cape. He also enjoyed travelling with his late wife, Carmela, and was known for his well-kept and showcase lawns.

Beloved husband for sixty-four years of the late Carmela A. (DiBona) Corbin.

Devoted father of Christine Vella and her husband Charles of Braintree, Geraldine Picot and her husband David of Quincy, and the late William R. Corbin.

Loving grandfather of Gary Morrissey and his wife Emily, David Morrissey and his wife Katie, Patrick Morrissey and his wife Nicolle, Alyssa and Katelyn Picot.

Cherished great-grandfather of Savannah, Cheyenne and Gary III.

Dear brother of Joseph Corbin and his wife Roberta of TN, formerly of Braintree. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Saturday, July 27th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 95 Crescent Street, West Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Friday 5 – 8 p.m. Interment, with military honors, at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
