Richard Vengco Lim, age 65

Richard Vengco Lim, age 65, of Quincy, formerly of Boston, died peacefully, on his favorite holiday, Christmas day, Wednesday, 25th of December 2019, at the Massachusetts General Hospital, in the care and comfort of his loving family.

Richard was born, raised, and educated in Manila, Philippines. He was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

Following his military service, Richard earned his Bachelor’s degree from California State University. After graduation, he returned to the Philippines and later worked in Hong Kong for Allied Bank. In 1986, he returned to the United States, settling in Fairfax, Virginia for eight years. He returned to the Philippines, working as the Special Projects Director for the Philippine-based SM Development Corporation in the commercial building industry for many years. He had lived in Boston for the past five years and had recently moved to Quincy.

Richard enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, doing magic tricks, and watching Family Feud. He also loved to cook.

Most of all, he was devoted to his family, especially his wife and three children.

Beloved husband for thirty-three years of Alegria “Joy” (Artadi) Lim.

Devoted father of Michelle L. Tan and her husband Christian Tan of Dorchester, Anthony Chase Lim of Quincy, Rachelle L. Lim and her fiancée Pascale Chamberland of Seattle, Wash.

Loving expectant grandfather of Sofia Lauren Lim-Tan.

Cherished son of Remedios (Vengco) Lim and the late Lorenzo Uy Lim.

Dear brother of George Lim, Sr., Bennie So, Dody Lim, Helen Lim, Carmen Velayo, Lori Ocampo, Jake Lim, Marie Dunnagan, and Fatima Wilson.

Richard is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy on Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m., followed by military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A small reception for relatives and friends will be held following the Mass.

At the request of the family, visiting hours were omitted.

Richard’s inurnment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will take place privately at a later date.
