Theresa J. (Piscopo) Petrillo, age 89

Theresa J. (Piscopo) Petrillo, age 89, a longtime resident of Braintree, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, in the comfort of her loving family.

Theresa was born in Boston, to the late Ernesto and Florinda (Cangiano) Piscopo. Raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1950, and the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She lived in Braintree for over fifty years.

Theresa was employed as an executive secretary for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Massachusetts State House, working directly for Governors John Foster Furcolo and John A. Volpe. She had been retired for many years.

She was a former longtime, active parishioner and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion at Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth Landing.

Most of all, Theresa was devoted to her family, actively supporting their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife of the late Carmine L. Petrillo.

Devoted mother of James C. Petrillo of Cypress, Calif., Mary E. Salvucci and her husband Steven of Wareham, Peter A. Petrillo and his wife Jean of Norwell, and Linda A. Moreau and her husband Mark of Grafton.

Loving grandmother of Daniel Salvucci and his wife Alyssa, Lisa Salvucci, Anthony Petrillo, Marina Petrillo, and Emily Moreau.

Cherished great-grandmother of Jameson Salvucci.

Theresa is survived by her dear friends and members of her weekly coffee group for over thirty-five years: Lois Dougherty, Rita Doyle, Katy Finocchiaro, Marie Keegan, Jean Maver, Marie McInnis, and Gladys Vadaro.

She is also survived by her caregiver, Mary Jean Gildea Kelehan, who provided Theresa with many years of loving care and support.

Visiting hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Sunday, August 7, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree, on Monday, August 8, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

  • As we celebrate the life of Terri I want to remember her as a loving, caring warm hearted person. She has gon home to with her Lord Jesus , her husand, and so many family members & friends. She will be missed by many. Her reward is waiting for her. God has trully blessed her with a wonderful family.
