Mary A. Buccella, age 92

Mary A. (Bersani) Buccella, age 92, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Monday, August 25, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Mary was born in Quincy, to the late Charles and Mary (Mattie) Bersani. Raised there, she was a graduate of Boston Trade School and became a talented hairdresser.

She was employed as a hairdresser and had worked at the 1000 Southern Artery senior complex in Quincy for over fifty years, where she lived and made many friendships.

Mary was involved in activities at 1000 Southern Artery and over the years she enjoyed taking day trips to various locations. She also liked Bingo and visiting casinos with family and friends.

She was a parishioner at the Saint John the Baptist Church and Saint Joseph Church Collaborative in Quincy.

Former wife of the late William J. Buccella.

Mother of Cheryl A. Crooks of Quincy and her late husband Wayne, and Bill Buccella of Norfolk. She is also survived by Lisa J. Buccella of Franklin.

Grandmother of Jack Buccella of Milford, N.H., Katherine Buccella of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Julia Buccella of Brewster, MA.

One of five siblings, she was the sister of Janet Davis of Calif. and predeceased by Charles Bersani, Lorraine Andrew, and Betty Duarte.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Memorial Graveside Services will be conducted at Pine Hill Cemetery, 815 Willard Street, West Quincy, on Friday, September 12, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

  • Bill and Cheryl please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your Mom. I will always remember her dearly. We had so many great times as kids and your Mom was a big part. of it.
