Anna DiPlacido, age 84

Anna (Ventresca) DiPlacido, age 84, of Scituate, formerly of Braintree and Quincy, died peacefully, Thursday, October 30, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by her loving family.

Anna was born in Sulmona, Abruzzo, Italy, to the late Olivero and Angelina (DiCenso) Ventresca. Raised and educated in Sulmona, she immigrated to the United States in 1965 at the age of twenty-five with her young family. Arriving in Dorchester, Anna soon moved to Quincy where she lived for many years. She also lived in Braintree for twenty-eight years and in Scituate for the past five years.

She was a dedicated homemaker and mother but had also worked as a baker at the original Montilio’s Bakery in Quincy Center for many years and earlier as a talented seamstress for the former Milham Company in Quincy.

Anna was a longtime active member of the Stella del Nord Society, affiliated with the Quincy Sons of Italy Lodge, where she made many friendships.

Anna enjoyed gardening as well as cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Most of all, she was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife of the late Nino DiPlacido.

Devoted mother of Rose Gratta and her husband Joseph of Scituate, Maria Fulciniti and her husband Pasquale of Burlington, and Michelle DiPlacido of Braintree.

Loving grandmother of Julianna Sullivan and her husband Davis, Joseph Gratta and his wife Kimberly, Paolo Fulciniti and his wife Emily, Anthony Fulciniti, Felicia, Gabriella, and Daniel Bertoldi, Jr.

Cherished great grandmother of Ellie.

Dear sister of Paola Trinchini of Sulmona, Italy, and the late Antonio Ventresca.

Anna is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Tuesday, November 4, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Wednesday, November 5, at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, 500 Canterbury Street, Boston.
