Robert D. Knowlton, age 85

Robert D. Knowlton, age 85, of Holbrook, died peacefully, Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Alliance Healthcare in Braintree, in the comfort of his loving family.

Robert was born in Concord, N.H., to the late Ira A. and Carrie L. (Ball) Knowlton. Raised in Gardner and Watertown, he was a graduate of Watertown High School, Class of 1960. He lived in Holbrook for over fifty years.

He was employed as a sales associate in the automobile parts industry for many years and worked with the former Bumper & Auto Company in Watertown.

As a young man, Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany. He supported various charitable veteran’s organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnels to Towers, and the New England Center and Home for Veterans in Boston.

Bob was a longtime active member of the Fort Square Presbyterian Church in Quincy, where he shared many lasting friendships. He was involved in many church activities and served as a Trustee, Deacon, and Elder. He was the founder, with his late wife, Carol, of the Free Clothing ministry which they operated for thirty-six years.

On December 7, 2022, Bob celebrated his Sixtieth Anniversary of being a Mason. He began his Masonic career in Watertown, served ten years as Chaplain of the Scouters Lodge in Holden, and was currently a member of Delta Lodge in Braintree.

Bob was active in Holbrook scouting and served as chairman of the board for sixteen years of Cub Scout Pack #56, where he made many friendships. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Most of all, Bob was devoted to his family, especially his cherished grandchildren, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for fifty-two years of the late Carol A. (Peacock) Knowlton, who recently passed on December 2, 2025.

Devoted father of Matthew R. Knowlton and his wife Heather of Stoughton, and Joshua A. Knowlton.

Loving grandfather of Zachary, Avery, Emily, and Jackson.

The last of four siblings, Bob was predeceased by Jean E., James M., and his twin, Richard A. Knowlton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Tuesday, February 24, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Fort Square Presbyterian Church, 16 Pleasant Street, Quincy, on Wednesday, February 25, at 10 a.m. Reverend Jason Sentas, Pastor, will officiate. Interment, with military honors, to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
