James Perdios, age 87

James Perdios, age 87, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Southwood Nursing Center in Norwell, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born in Boston, to the late Kyprianos and Marjorie (McLauchlan) Perdios. Raised and educated in South Boston, he was a graduate of South Boston High School, Class of 1955. He also attended Northeastern University in Boston. He loved South Boston and family gatherings would always include some story about life in Southie.

Beloved husband for sixty-eight years to Mary (Belmont) Perdios. They started their life together in South Boston but moved to Quincy Point in 1968. They lived in Quincy until 2022 when they moved to Linden Ponds in Hingham.

James was a dedicated construction worker and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17. He was very proud of his union and his work and would often point out different buildings in Boston that he helped build, like the Federal Reserve Building and the Federal Court House. A skilled craftsman, he could fix most anything and was very comfortable changing out a car water pump or installing a hardwood floor.

James and Mary bought a vacation home in Centerville in the 1980s and spent twenty years of summers, fixing up the house and enjoying time at Craigsville Beach. James enjoyed golfing and fishing. He loved working on his lawn and his garden every year. He enjoyed walking around the blocks of Quincy Point at night and a cigar on the back deck after dinner. He loved his hot tea with milk at any time of day!

Devoted father of Steven Perdios and his wife Courtney of Quincy, Don Perdios and his wife Denise of Braintree, David Perdios and his wife Sarale of Weymouth, Daniel Perdios and his husband James Egan of Wareham. Loving grandfather of Marc, Kyle, Karoline, Ali, Kevin, Cass, MJ, and Hannah. He loved his role as Grandfather (Big Daddy) and never missed an opportunity to make a goofy joke or attend one of his grandkids’ sporting events.
