Richard Hemingway, age 84, a longtime resident of Hull, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born in Weymouth, to the late Norton and Helen M. (Healy) Hemingway. He was raised and educated in Braintree, graduating from Braintree High School. Richard later earned an Associate degree from Harvard Extension School where he studied to be a chiropractor.
He lived in Hull for thirty-one years, previously in Quincy.
Richard was proud to have served in the United States Army during the early 1960s.
He held a pilot’s license and had a passion for flying. He also enjoyed photography and was an avid Boston sports fan.
Beloved husband for forty-eight years of Judy D. (Tirrell) Hemingway.
Devoted father of John M. Burke, Jr. and his wife Kimberley Parker Burke of Braintree.
The last of four brothers, he was predeceased by James Michael Hemingway and his surviving wife Carol of Texas, Robert J. Hemingway, and Thomas Norton Hemingway and his surviving wife Susan of California.
Dear brother-in-law of Maureen Glynn of Quincy and her late husband Frank.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington Street, Weymouth, on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. Interment, with military honors, to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
