of Weymouth
David R. Petrelli, age 71, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, March 27, 2026 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born in Quincy, to the late Arlene (Newcomb) and Francis D. Petrelli, Sr. Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a graduate of Quincy Vocational Technical School, Class of 1973. He lived in Weymouth for fifty-one years, previously in Quincy.
He was employed as a battery technician with the Bjorkman Industrial Power Corporation in Weymouth. David retired in 2019 after thirty-one years of service.
David enjoyed woodworking and had a talent for crown moldings and decorative finishes. He loved fishing, clamming, and proudly working around his home and taking care of his lawn and gardens. He was an avid Boston sports fan.
Most of all, Dave’s passion was his dedication to his family and especially playing with his two grandsons. He also relished family gatherings, trips, and vacations.
Dave was a quiet and caring person who was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Beloved husband for fifty-one years of Elaine P. (Meenan) Petrelli.
Devoted father of Sandra A. Petrelli and Anthony D. Petrelli, both of Weymouth.
Loving grandfather of Vincent and Henry.
Dear brother of Francis D. Petrelli, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Braintree, the late Edward A. Petrelli and his surviving wife Katherine R. Grant Petrelli of Hull.
Brother-in-law of Joanne Walsh and her husband Bob of Holbrook, Robert Meenan and his wife Anne of Carver, Paul Meenan and his wife Terri of Weymouth.
David is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Thursday, April 2, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, April 3, at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
