Mark J. Stenson, age 62, of Plymouth, formerly of Marshfield, died peacefully, Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous fight against cancer.
Mark was born in Quincy, to the late Patricia E. (Morrissey) and Raymond C. Stenson, Sr. Raised in South Weymouth, he was a graduate of Weymouth South High School, Class of 1982, where he met the love of his life, Denise. Mark earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1987 from Suffolk University in Boston.
He lived in Plymouth for the past eight years, previously in Marshfield for over twenty years.
Mark was the co-owner and operator of Country Ski & Sport, Inc., with locations in Hanson, Quincy, and Westwood. The company was founded by his late father, Raymond, Sr., in 1970 and is in its third-generation of family ownership.
Mark was an avid golfer and a member of Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth.
Most of all, he was devoted to his family, especially his late wife, Denise, and son, Jason.
Beloved husband for thirty-two years of the late Denise M. (Dembrowski) Stenson.
Devoted father of Jason R. Stenson and his wife Megan Cavano of Plymouth.
Loving brother of Marisa L. Stenson of Atlanta, Ga., Raymond C. Stenson, Jr. of Boston and Edgartown and his late wife Pamela, Michael T. Stenson and his wife Ruth of Thornton, N.H., Colonel James F. Stenson, Sr., USA (Retired) and his wife Sally of Eatontown, N.J., and Michele A. Stenson of Hanover.
Dear uncle of Chloe, Andrea, Raymond III, Jimmy, Jr., Ben, Bobby, Claire, Luke, and great uncle of many great nieces and great nephews.
Brother-in-law of Donna Gates and her husband Lawrence of Plymouth.
Mark is also survived by his loving partner, Kelly Coletti of Salem, N.H., and many loving friends.
Memorial Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Friday, April 17, from 4 – 7 p.m. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant Street, Weymouth, on Saturday, April 18, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
