Sean G.B. Philpot, age 57, a lifelong resident of Abington, died peacefully, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his loving family.
Sean was born in Weymouth and raised in Abington. He was a graduate of South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1987.
Sean began his career working in electronics for GTE and Microsonics. He went on to work as an independent contractor in the newspaper delivery industry for thirty-eight years, delivering throughout Quincy. He began by delivering the Boston Herald and expanded to The Boston Globe, financial publications, and The Patriot Ledger, acquiring many routes over the years. He loved his job and especially enjoyed interacting with his many loyal customers over the years.
Sean was proud of his Scottish heritage. He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially baseball, football, rugby, and NASCAR. He was also a talented rollerskater. Sean had a passion for music and had worked as a DJ as a younger man. In recent years, he was known as the “tutu guy”, giving out free hugs at the many concerts he attended.
Sean had a colorful and fun-loving personality and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Cherished son of the late Robert L. and Dorothy Quincy (Adams) Philpot.
Dear brother-in-law of Donna Madden McLaurin.
Loving uncle of Robert Philpot, Brian Philpot, Jennifer Carroll, and Daniel Toland, and their families.
Sean is also survived by many great nephews, great nieces, cousins, extended family members, and loyal friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Philpot.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sean’s family would like to acknowledge and thank Abington Fire and Rescue, the South Shore Hospital ER team, and especially the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Boston Specialty Care team and the MICU A unit for their dedication, hard work, and care in making his final days so comforting.
