Thelma J. “Jean” (McArthur) Leuchte, age 84, of Abington, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, August 21, 2026 at Webster Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Rockland, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Quincy, to the late David and Thelma (Berboth) McArthur, she was raised and educated there. Thelma was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1959. She lived in Abington for fifty years, previously in Quincy.
Jean was employed as a secretary at the Law Offices of Edward M. Reilly in Abington for twenty years.
She was a member of the Town River Yacht Club and enjoyed the ocean and sailing.
Jean and her husband, Charles, took part in sixty-nine cruises in fifteen years, including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and the Panama Canal.
Beloved wife for twenty-two years of Charles T. Leuchte.
Devoted mother of Richard Burgess, Jr. of Rockland.
Former wife of the late Richard Burgess.
Thelma is survived by Charles’s sons, Charles E. Leuchte and his wife Lori of Quincy, Scott T. Leuchte of Quincy, and Michael J. Leuchte of Va.
Loving grandmother of Steven and David and great grandmother of Lena, Remi and Landon.
Dear sister of David McArthur and the late Don McArthur. Thelma is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Wednesday, August 26, from 4 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, August 27, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
