Donna M. (Broderick) Carter, age 79, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Donna was born in Boston to the late Thomas P. and Bernice R. (Cavicchi) Broderick. Raised and educated in Quincy, she was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1964, and later earned an Associate degree from Quincy College.
Donna grew up in Quincy and was proud to call the city home throughout her life. She raised her family on Highland Avenue, where she created a loving home filled with family, laughter, and countless memories.
Donna was employed full-time as a clerk with Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company for twenty-five years and had been retired for many years.
Donna loved being near the water, especially at White Horse Beach, where she enjoyed spending summers with Marcia, Marilyn, and her cousin Tom. She also loved traveling and especially enjoyed the many cruises she took to Aruba. These special places and adventures brought her great joy and created memories she cherished.
Family was at the heart of Donna’s life. She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and loved supporting them in their many activities and accomplishments. She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved and will be remembered for the love, warmth, and memories she shared with her family. She also cherished the friendship of her dear friend Jean.
Donna was the devoted mother of Thomas M. Carter of Quincy, Richard M. Carter and his wife, Kristine Carter, of Weymouth, David M. Carter of Bonita Springs, Fla., and James M. Carter and his wife, Tracey Carter, of Pembroke.
She was the loving grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of one.
Donna was the dear sister of James Broderick of Quincy.
She was the former wife of the late Alfred M. Carter.
Donna will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout her 79 years.
At the request of the family, services were private.
