Theresa M. “Peg” (Terry) Stevens, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Milton, in the comfort of her loving family.

Theresa was born in Lynn, to the late Peter F. and Theresa M. (O’Connell) Terry. Raised in Medford, she was a graduate of Medford High School. She attended Quincy College.

For Theresa–“Peg or Peggy”–family and extended family always came first. Compassionate and generous, she faced life’s challenges head-on and without complaint. An avid reader, the family go-to for her fashion sense and style, and proud of her Irish roots, she was our best friend, counsel, and passionate defender. She spoke the truth–even if you didn’t want to hear it. Her zest for life and her wit will remain with her family always.

Peg enjoyed her job as a Buyer and Manager for Jordan Marsh and Macy’s. Later, she worked as an assistant to a bestselling author.

Peg enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, antiques, and fashion. She also had an interest in history and politics.

Beloved wife of the late Warren F. Stevens.

Devoted mother of Peter F. Stevens and his partner Winnie Liang of Quincy, Paula T. Axelrod and her husband Joseph of Gloucester, Gregory M. Stevens and his partner Valerie Doran of Middleborough, and Karen A. Stevens of Quincy.

Dear sister of John Terry of West Newbury and predeceased by Patricia Marsh, Peter Terry, and Richard Terry.

Theresa is also survived by many nieces, nephews, their families, and Jonathan and Rachel Ng. Also one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Wednesday, September 23, from 2 – 4 p.m. A Prayer Service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
