Donald R. Sullivan, Sr., age 90

Donald R. Sullivan, Sr., age 90, a longtime resident of Braintree, died peacefully, Monday, October 5, 2026 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born in Boston, to the late William and Nora (McDonough) Sullivan. Raised in Dorchester and South Boston, he attended Mission High School. He lived in Braintree for the past fifty-eight years.

Don was proud to have served in the United States Air Force with the 4050th during the Korean conflict. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Don was employed with the United States Postal Service for over thirty years. He began his career as a letter carrier and worked primarily as a clerk at the South Postal Annex. He also worked part-time for the former Spencer Shoe Company for many years.

A man of faith, Don was a former active parishioner of Saint Francis of Assisi Church and the Church of Saint Clare, both in Braintree, where he served as both a lector and cantor. More recently, Don was a parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Church in Quincy.

Don was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed following the local teams and especially the New England Patriots. Most of all, he was devoted to his family, actively supporting their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for sixty-nine years of Joan A. (LeDoux) Sullivan.

Devoted father of Donna M. Fooks and her husband Sam of Braintree, William J. Sullivan of Braintree and his late wife Cherilyn, Steven R. Sullivan of Westfield, and predeceased by Donald R. Sullivan, Jr., James M. Sullivan, and Kevin J. Sullivan.

Loving grandfather of Jennifer, Ashley, Christine, Daniel, Amanda, Timothy and Christopher.

Cherished great grandfather of Harold, Evelyn, Daniel, Jr., and Caroline.

The youngest and last of six siblings, Donald was predeceased by John, Mary, William, Patrick, and Joseph Sullivan.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, October 12, from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Tuesday, October 13, at 10 a.m. Interment, with military honors, to follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, 245 North Street, Randolph. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
