Heliodora Vazquez Colón, age 87, of Brockton, died peacefully, Friday, October 16, 2026 at Alliance Health at West Acres, surrounded by her loving family.

Heliodora was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, to the late Cruz Vazquez and Emerita Ortiz. She was raised and educated in Matrullas, Puerto Rico. Heliodora moved to Massachusetts in the early 1960s. She lived in Brockton for three years, previously in Quincy for seventeen years, and earlier in Dorchester and Roxbury.

She was employed as a seamstress and worked at the former Avon Plastics in Forest Hills. Heliodora was also a devoted homemaker.

Heliodora, along with her late husband, Jorge, were avid planters. She attended The Good Shepherd Church in Roxbury for many years.

Heliodora was admired for her generous, loving, and affectionate nature. Most of all, she was devoted to her family.

Beloved wife of the late Jorge L. Colón.

Devoted mother of Yolanda Barros and her husband Jeffrey of Bridgewater, Elizabeth Bonilla and her husband Miguel of Weymouth.

Loving grandmother of Jennifer Diaz and her husband Luis of Providence, R.I., Michael Bonilla and his wife Luz of Weymouth, Jessica Bonilla-Jimenez and her husband Agapito of R.I., Tiffany Rodriguez-Molina and her husband Brennan of Quincy.

She is also survived by six loving great grandchildren.

Dear sister of Wilfredo Vazquez, Raul Morales, Zenaida Morales, Virgenmina Morales, all of Puerto Rico, the late Carmen Lydia Capagne, and the late Hector Vazquez.

Dear sister-in-law of Rosita, Norma, Haydee, Juanita, Maci, Luz Maria, Virgenmina, the late Iris, and the late Hector.

Heliodora was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Tuesday, October 20, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 21, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
