A Smile that would melt your heart!! He did so much for the City of Quincy and its people. My Favorite Memory was when I went to Central Jr High to the State House and he yelled up where we were sitting and Yelled “I Love you Wendy Browne”! Being about 11 years old I was so embarrassed! Then when we were leaving he came over and gave me a Big Hug and Kiss! Wow was I surprised! It was always a good laugh years to follow . God Love you Arthur! Together for ever with your Beautiful Shirley!

  • MR T appointed me to the QPD in 1981. We became dear friends. He was always there to help Marines when they needed it. It was always his first priority to help a kid stay out of the system if possible and get a second chance. He helped so many People not only Marines. His family was always the source of so much pride and they always were first in his life. He was an incredible man. So proud to have been a friend and brother Marine. I will never forget him or be able to thank him enough for all his kindness. I look forward to the day when I do see him again.

  • To the Tobins,
Joanne and I were very sorry to hear of the loss of Arthur and Shirley. Please accept our condolences. My wife enjoyed meeting Arthur in his office when we were nearby for the retirement party for my cousin Judge Joe Welch. Everybody loved Arthur and we were lucky to have him with us for as long as we did. I valued his wise counsel when I was a rookie Clerk-Magistrate and shall never forget his kindness and grace as the new guy. Arthur was an iconic figure in Massachusetts politics and the court system. I had nothing but respect for his old school approach to problem solving as he was a legendary public servant who shall never be forgotten. Hold onto your memories and we will keep your family in our prayers.
    Sincerely,

  • Arthur Tobin was the gold standard for public service, a man of honor, decency, and humility. Generations of elected and appointed officials in all branches of government saw Arthur as a leader and role model whose sole purpose was to better the lives of others. Our judicial system has lost a true hero. My sympathies to his wonderful family.

  • Mr. T….A great man who gave our family a great gift and honor.
My dad was a WWII Veteran. In his late 80’s, Mr. T. arranged for Dad to be inducted into the American Veterans Association. My father hadn’t stood without the use of his walker for many years. The honor of wearing the cap of the AVA and being surrounded by his family and community allowed him to stand tall, salute and be a proud American. Such a gift to us from Mr. Tobin. Unsolicited. Just given. The picture of my Dad, standing so tall, proud and saluting, was the photo we chose to put on his Mass Card when he passed. No words of thanks can express the gift given so freely.

  • My Deepest and Sincerest Condolences for Shirley and Arthur Tobin!
A family that truly has given a life in Service and has touched countless lives.
The outpouring of love and respect for your family has been immense and they will forever be remembered in all our hearts!
