Barbara E. (McNeice) Martens, age 80, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Hancock Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born in Boston, to the late Frank M. and Margaret M. (Doyle) McNeice. Raised and educated in Quincy, she was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1963. She attended Quincy College and had lived in Quincy for most of her life.

She was a certified nursing assistant and had worked at the former William B. Rice Eventide Home in Quincy for ten years.

Barbara had a passion for travel and had taken many trips throughout the world, including Europe. She enjoyed learning, exploring, and experiencing other cultures. She was also an avid history enthusiast and liked working on puzzles and playing board games.

Most of all, Barbara was devoted to her family and relished family gatherings.

Devoted mother of Christopher Martens and his wife Melissa of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Loving grandmother of Tyler, Jordan, and Jacquelyn. Cherished great grandmother of Jaxon and Zayn.

Dear sister of Richard B. McNeice and his wife Patricia of Holbrook, Linda M. Archibald and her husband Stephen of Stoughton.

Barbara is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as many cousins and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Tuesday, February 24, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation at the church prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. Interment Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

    She was great person..Sorry for family’s loss.

  • Dean and I send our sympathies to all of the family. We are so sorry that we cannot attend Barbara’s funeral. But we will think of her and all of you monday morning at the time of her funeral. I’m sure she would have appreciated the beautiful rememberance and church service.
