Blanche D. Abernathy, age 96

Blanche D. Abernathy, age 96, of Quincy, formerly of Hull, died peacefully, Sunday, August 17, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Blanche was born in Sanford, Maine, to the late Alexandrine (Pare) and Joseph A. Grondin. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Mission Hill High School, Class of 1947.

She lived in Quincy for the past eighteen years, previously in Hull for over thirty-five years.

Blanche began her career working for CorningWare in Medfield. She was proud to be the first woman to work there. She went on to work as a quality control inspector for the Raytheon Company. She had been retired for many years.

Most of all, Blanche was a devoted homemaker and a family-oriented person. She enjoyed spending time with them, and actively supporting the many activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife for sixty years of Charles E. Abernathy.

Blanche was the devoted mother of Sharon M. Bolanos of Burbank, California, and Carol L. Ennis and her husband Steve of Pembroke.

She was the loving grandmother of Edwin C. Bolanos and his wife Stephanye, Alysa R. Bolanos, Jordan L. Engel and her husband Robert, and John A. Ennis.

She was the cherished great-grandmother of Timothy and Otto.

Blanche was the dear sister of Frances Kearns of Hanover.

She is also survived by her nieces, Diane, Karen, and Lynda, her nephew, Paul, and their families.

At the request of the family, funeral services were private.
