David E. Crowder, age 86

David E. Crowder, age 86, of Hanover, formerly of Rockland, died peacefully, Thursday, June 11, 2026 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, in the comfort of his loving family.

Dave was born and raised in Weymouth and was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1957. He lived in Hanover for the past two years, previously in Rockland for sixty years.

He was the owner and operator of the former Dave’s Limousine Service, located in Rockland. Dave began his career in the mid-1960s assisting funeral homes on the South Shore and across Greater Boston, providing quality limousines, hearses, and flower cars. He also serviced weddings, proms, parties, and airport arrivals and departures.

Dave was well-known for his reliability, dependability, and low-key personality. He retired in 2015 after over fifty years of service.

In the late 1960s, following a severe storm that flooded Weymouth Landing, Dave secured a rowboat and provided assistance for many in need, thus earning him the nickname “Dave to the rescue”.

He was involved in student foreign exchange programs for many years and was proud to have hosted thirty-one students, providing educational, cultural, and life-learning opportunities.

Dave was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed collecting, restoring, and working on all types of cars and trucks. He was always willing to help and was constantly looking for his next project.

He also enjoyed road trips, visits to the casino with family and friends, as well as family gatherings.

Beloved son of the late Alice D. (Williams) and George E. Crowder and step-son of the late Philomena (Piver) Crowder.

Dear brother of Marjory Ellstrom of Hanover and predeceased by his half brothers and sisters, Richard Goodwin, Dorothy Tilden, John Goodwin, Lillian “Pat” Doherty, and Marjorie McKinney.
