Dorothy E. Nasson, age 92

Dorothy E. (MacKinnon) Nasson, age 92, a longtime resident of Hingham, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born in Roslindale, to the late James and Daisy MacKinnon. She was raised and educated there. She lived in Hingham for many years and had also lived in Braintree.

Dorothy worked in administration for the New England Telephone Company for over thirty years and had been retired for many years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She was a devoted member of the Hingham Congregational Church.

Dorothy was an avid traveler, having taken over fifty cruises throughout the world, with her late husband, Nick. She was highly skilled at completing crossword puzzles in the newspaper and also enjoyed watching Jeopardy!. Dorothy was known for her Scottish shortbread.

Dorothy enjoyed her time at The Residence at Penniman Hill in Hingham where she cultivated many friendships.

Most of all, she was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed time spent with her granddaughters.

Beloved wife of the late Anesti L. “Nick” Nasson. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Maloney.

She is survived by Anesti’s sons, Stephen L. Nasson and his wife Susan of Wrentham, and Laurence G. Nasson of Quincy.

Nana of Stephanie A., Sydney M., and Samantha E. Nasson.

Dear sister of Eleanore Knapp and predeceased by Virginia MacKinnon and Donald MacKinnon.

Loving aunt of Sandy Myles and her husband Dave, Doug Knapp and his wife Mary, and their families.

Dorothy is also survived by the extended Nasson family.

Funeral Services will be conducted in the chapel at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Center, on Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. Reverend Doctor Peter Allen, Pastor of Hingham Congregational Church, will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment to follow.

The Nasson family has requested that flowers be omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
