Florence L. Rogers, age 97

Florence L. (Jackson) Rogers, age 97, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the John Scott House in Braintree, surrounded by her loving family.

Florence was born in Boston, to the late Herbert L. and Frances M. (Critch) Jackson. Raised and educated in Roxbury, she was a graduate of the former Saint Patrick’s High School. She lived in Quincy for forty-seven years, previously in Dorchester for many years.

She was employed as a secretary and began her career working with the New England Telephone Company at the Franklin Street, Boston office, retiring from AT&T after many years of dedicated service. After retirement, Florence enjoyed many friendships as a member of the “Live Wires”, a YMCA social group.

Florence was an avid Boston Bruins fan and she enjoyed the Boston Red Sox.

Most of all, Florence loved family gatherings and was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great-great granddaughter, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife of the late William P. Rogers.

Devoted mother of Karen S. Rogers Lynch and her husband William of Pembroke, Michael S. Rogers of Quincy, the late Mark W. Rogers and his late wife Brenda, and the late Michele A. Rogers Goss and her surviving husband Christopher of Laconia, N.H.

Loving grandmother of Colleen Doiron and her husband James, Timothy Lynch and his wife Jennifer, Jill Lynch, Nicole Rogers Miller, Brianna Abenne and her husband Gregory, Mark Rogers, Nicholas Goss and his wife Cara, and Zachary Goss and his wife Ronja.

Much-loved great grandmother of Sean, Brian, Kelli, Anna, and Clover. In the last two years of her life, Florence was blessed with great grandchildren Charlie and Davina and great-great granddaughter Natalie, who brought her wonder, joy, and laughter just being themselves.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, March 9, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Tuesday, March 10, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.

  • We are so sorry for your loss. Florence was such a sweet woman. We had so many good times together on vacation. I will never forget all the fond memories.
