  • I was family physician and medical director at Greater Roslindale Medical Center where Grace and I worked together for 30 years. It’s a small wonderful place for primary care, and we had a close family feeling in the staff. Grace was the primary pediatric care giver during all these years, working with several pediatricians. She was an expert in early childhood care, great with babies, kids and parents. I would always defer to her with questions on immunizations, rashes, and puzzling cases. She was very witty and funny, and created instant poems for any occasion. She was a strong woman who made her feelings known, not hesitating to confront a wrong. I was especially proud of her devotion to the Reach Out and Read Program. We were sad to see her take her well-earned retirement.

  • I had the pleasure of working with Grace at the health center for all of her 35 years there.
She was a dedicated nurse/provider who delivered a valuable service to her patients and families. Due to her longevity at the Center, she provided multi- generational care to patients. She really enjoyed taking care of babies whose mother she had also cared for.- it was like full circle community health care for her. Her evaluation and diagnostic skills, coupled with her compassionate approach, made her a beloved member of the provider team. Over the many years , Grace helped guide/ train other new and novice providers offering beneficial input in the care of children and their parents.

As an avid book reader, Grace took the lead role in the Centers Reach Out and Read Program. ……and boy, did she excel at this! Hearing Grace talk to children and teens about a book she thought they might enjoy, was so inspiring! Kids would often come back and ask Grace for more recommendations . She really knew she was successful in helping kids learn to love reading when this happened. She would beam with pride!

While I can’t remember any of the many jokes she told over the years, I just know, no one could tell a joke like Grace could! She was phenomenal and delivered the punchline like none other.

Over the many years I have known Grace, she talked about her family often and always with love and pride. Her beloved Jerry, her children Steven and Kathleen and her darling grandchildren. Staff at the health center heard all about their successes and challenges throughout the years. No one was more proud of her family than Grace!

I’ll miss Grace. She was a lovely woman. I know her immediate family will miss her most of all, naturally. But, rest assured, the health center family which she was very much a part of mourns her loss as well.

    RIP dear Grace.
