Janet C. Kuja, age 83

Janet C. (DiBona) Kuja, age 83, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by her loving family.

Janet was born in Quincy, to the late Auro and Nubilia (Cedrone) DiBona. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1960. She lived in Weymouth for over sixty years.

Janet was the well-known owner and operator of the former Auntie’s Daycare, which she operated out of her home in South Weymouth for over forty years. She loved her work and the many friendships she made over the years.

She was a parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Parish in South Weymouth where she had served as a Eucharistic minister and participated in the bazaar. She also volunteered for the Weymouth Town Clerk’s Office during elections at Precinct 18, serving as the warden for seven years.

Janet was talented at crocheting and was an avid reader throughout her life. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas time, when you could find her seated at her player piano singing carols surrounded by family and friends. Above all, she was devoted to her family, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren, actively supporting their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved wife for sixty-two years, three months, and one day of David E. Kuja.

Devoted mother of Susan E. Noll and her husband Richard of Weymouth, the late Jacqueline M. Kuja, and the late David M. “Duf” Kuja and his surviving wife Agnieszka “Aga” of Braintree.

Loving grandmother of Emily R. Noll and her wife Brittany, Olivia R. Noll, Timothy A. Noll, Alexander M. Chong, Christopher M. Kuja, and Isabella E. Kuja.

The last of three siblings, she was predeceased by Lorraine N. Hutchins and her late husband Lawrence G. Hutchins, Sr., and Barbara L. Righini and her late husband Paul F. “Jibby” Righini, Jr.

Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Sunday, December 14, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant Street, Weymouth, on Monday, December 15, at 10:30 a.m. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, will take place privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, and due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Janet’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or www.dana-farber.org.
