Jennie A. Inglis, age 96

Jennie A. (Emanuele) Inglis, age 96, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, July 11, 2025 at the John Scott House in Braintree, surrounded by her loving family.

Jennie was born in Quincy, to the late Nicola and Louise (Folgora) Emanuele. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1947. She lived at 1000 Southern Artery in Quincy for twenty years, previously in Braintree and Weymouth for forty years.

While working at a soda and ice cream shop, Jennie met her future husband, Jim, while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy during World War II. Soon after they would marry and raise nine wonderful sons, the last two being twins, in East Braintree.

Jennie was primarily a devoted homemaker but had also worked for the former Hunt’s Potato Chip Company and Zayre Department Store.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary as well as the George F. Bryan VFW Post in Quincy. She also belonged to the Massachusetts Mothers of Twins Association. A woman of faith, she was a longtime parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Church in Quincy.

Jennie was gifted at many things, including playing the piano, knitting, ceramics, drawing, and cooking. The time she enjoyed most was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Devoted mother of James Inglis of Millbrook, N.Y., Michael Inglis and his wife Carolyn of Humarock, Joseph Inglis and his wife Shelly of Mashpee, Thomas Inglis of Colo., Jack Inglis and his partner Nancy Larson of Weymouth, David Inglis and his wife Debbie of Loveland, Ohio, Edward Inglis and his wife Laura of Holbrook, Peter Inglis of Nashua, N.H., and Paul Inglis of Somerville.

Loving grandmother of Sarah, Carly, Julie, Sandi, Donald, Nicole, Chris, Angela, James, Shawn, Amanda, Adam, Ashley, Abigail, Andrew Alaura, Aaron, Aiden, and Anthony.

Cherished great grandmother of Keeghan, Kyle, Daniel, Lylah, Ava, Nora, Isla, Niamh, Sullivan, Charlotte, Gianna, Barrett, Donavan, Layla, Andrew, and Savannah.

Dear sister of Marie Fitzgerald of Weymouth, the late Josephine “Jo” Tocci, and the late Lee Emanuele.

Jennie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Sunday, July 20, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Joseph’s Church, 550 Washington Street, Quincy, on Monday, July 21, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
