Mary H. Keane, age 81

Mary H. (Sylva) Keane, age 81, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, January 24, 2026 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Quincy, to the late Robert and Helen (Taylor) Sylva. Raised and educated there, she was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1962.

She was employed as an office manager for Esplanade Mortgage of Quincy for twenty years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed working at Kohl’s in Hingham.

Mary was active in Relay for Life in Braintree with her team, Ribbons of Hope, honoring the memory of her late husband and son, as well as her own battle against breast cancer years earlier.

Mary loved spending time by the beach and the pool, taking trips to the casino, and socializing with family and friends. She was devoted to her family, especially her children.

Devoted mother of Julie-Ann M. Keane and Michael P. DiBenedetto of Quincy, and the late Kevin E. Keane, Jr.

Dear sister of Donna Wilkie and her husband Paul of Falmouth, Meredith Power and her husband Jim of Virginia, Robert Sylva, Jr. of Cape Cod, John Sylva and his wife Barbara of Raynham, Stephen Sylva of South Carolina, Edward Sylva of North Carolina, the late Roberta “DeeDee” Sylva, and the late Charles “Chuckie” Sylva.

Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

She is also survived by her beloved dogs, her girls, Kayla and Piper.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Wednesday, February 4, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Divine Mercy Parish at Saint Mary’s Church, 95 Crescent Street, West Quincy, on Thursday, February 5, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow.

  • Mary, For the 70+ years we have been friends. Thank you for all the memories and laughs we shared. You have through all your trials in life kept a smile on your face. We have had so many laughs in the past couple years with lunches, dinners and trips to the casino. I am going to miss you .
