Susan E. Himmelman, age 74

Susan E. Himmelman, age 74, of Braintree, died peacefully, Monday, September 25, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Susan was born in Northampton. Raised and educated in Northampton, she was a graduate of Northampton High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State, Class of 1971, and a Master of Arts in Physical Education from the University of Connecticut in May of 1978.

She lived in Braintree for almost fifty years, previously in Northampton.

Susan had a passion for the outdoors. She loved camping, canoeing, and kayaking with her dog, as well as rollerblading along the Cape Cod Canal. She also enjoyed hiking and was a proud member of the Appalachian Mountain Club Four Thousand Footer Club, recognizing those who have hiked all forty-eight of New Hampshire’s 4,000-foot mountains.

Susan was a very creative person. Her sewing skills were extraordinary, from creating items for her home to dog apparel for every occasion. Beyond that, her culinary talents were amazing. She was especially known for her annual Christmas pudding. And any kind of home repair, Susan was always up to the task.

Susan had a very dry sense of humor and was always up to getting into mischief, especially pulling pranks on her friend next door.

Beloved wife for forty-five years of Ralph W. “Buddy” Evans, Jr. who died on September 20, 2023.

Devoted daughter of the late Harold A. and Isabelle B. (Orechia) Himmelman.
